*What initially brought you to Aspen, and how long have you been living there?
I moved to the Aspen area from New York City in 1999 with my husband. We were looking for a perfect place to further our careers and cultivate interests. My husband is a builder, snowboarder, musician and biking enthusiast and I am a painter, fine art picture framer and enjoy hiking. We are also busy raising our 10 year old twin boys. The Roaring Fork Valley is a great place to raise a family while pursuing career, athletic and cultural goals.
*Can you tell me a bit about your background as an artist?
I started painting seriously in high school. I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design (BFA), Tufts University/Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in conjunction with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA). I have had the opportunity to attend artist residency programs at Skowhegan Schol of Painting and Sculpture and the Atlantic Center for the Arts. My work has won several awards, is in many private collections and has been exhibited in New York, New England and Colorado.
*How would you describe your work?
My is continually influenced by places I visit and see everyday, coupled with an interest in ways the landscape has been depicted in paintings throughout art history. I tend to document what I see in the landscape using a camera. Next I translate an aspect of those photographed moments into paintings using a variety of traditional painting techniques. The result reflects an intimate moment contemplated in landscape through an investigation of light, composition, mood and color.
*Where can people go to view and purchase your work?
